Celebrating 30 Years Of Reinvention
My first case of reinvention occurred when I landed my first ad agency job as an assistant art director. The agency head came to me and said “We are ordering business cards for you. Can we change your name to Jim? James is a little too formal for the ad agency business.” Happy to have the job, I said, “Sure.” From that day forward my professional name was Jim Burris. And still is to this day.
Over the years I’ve observed a lot of changes in Marketing & Advertising. I had to go back to school at night several times to learn desktop publishing software, website design, and even sales training. Each was a time knowledge helped me grow and yes, reinvent myself.
When I left a corporate job as the President of a $4 million marketing and publishing company to start my own Advertising Agency, I felt good about getting back into a business where I could use my creativity to help other businesses. It quickly became apparent that the Internet would soon dramatically change this Industry. I would need to not only reinvent myself, but I would have to do the same thing with my business.
So Burris Creative adapted, changed and continued to thrive. As we celebrated 10, then 20 years, I knew change would become a constant in marketing and advertising. Today, our 30 Year Anniversary is testimony to reinvention and adapting to a changing business environment.
I’d like to thank the clients we have served in all areas of media and marketing for allowing us to help them grow their businesses over the last 30 years. We couldn't have done it without you.
I also want to remind you, I’m still Jim Burris and I'm here to help you in almost any area of Marketing & Advertising. Learn more at JimBurris.com.
